How to prepare your logo for printing on a mat
A logo that works on a website or a business card doesn’t always work on the floor, seen from a metre and a half up and walked on hundreds of times a day. These tips will save you a round of changes.
Which file to send us
To print at photographic quality, we need the design in one of these formats:
- Vector PDF, scalable without any loss of quality.
- EPS or AI (Adobe Illustrator).
- High-resolution JPG, if you don’t have a vector file.
Don’t have any of these? Send us whatever you have, even a photo of the logo, and we’ll vectorise it at no extra cost.
Your brand colours
Screens don’t all show colours the same way, so the most reliable option is to give us your brand’s Pantone references. With Chromojet printing we can work with any Pantone colour, as well as gradients and photographs.
The colour goes into the fibre rather than sitting on top: that’s why it doesn’t crack or fade with washing.
Make it readable on the floor
- Contrast. A light logo on a dark background, or the other way round. Similar shades blur together at a distance.
- Size. Small text and very thin lines are the first things to get lost. If your logo has a small strapline, consider removing it or making it bigger.
- Margin. Leave space up to the 20 mm rubber border.
- Orientation. Make it read in the direction people walk in.
- Background. At street entrances, dark backgrounds hide dirt.
From file to mat
- You send us the design and sizes when you request a quote.
- We send you a digital proof showing the mat exactly as it will look.
- You check the size, colours and logo position. We only manufacture once you give the go-ahead.
- The mat leaves the factory 15 to 19 days after your approval.
The full process, step by step, is on our how we work page.
Frequently asked questions
Can I print a photo on a mat?
Yes. Chromojet printing allows photographic resolution, gradients and any Pantone colour.
What if I only have my logo as a small image?
Send it to us anyway. Our prepress team will vectorise it at no extra cost and we’ll send you a proof before manufacturing.
Will I see what it looks like before it’s made?
Yes. We always send a digital proof and don’t manufacture until you approve it.
